On 14th July 2013, the first ever synchronizedactivity
to ever take place between Kenyan kids and Japanese kids (Daizukids)kicks
off. The occasion will see kids plant soya beans in Malava, Kakamega County
of Kenya and the same will take place in Nagoya Japan. These are the“DaizuKids”.
Sponsored by Japan Africa Trust(JAT) and United Mission for The Needy(UMN),
theproject aims to educate kids on how to grow soya beans, harvest and
Soya is a rich crop in provision of
plant proteins. It is hopedthatthe children in Kakamega county will develop
interest in the crop and hencespur farming of the crop within the county
therefore enhance protein andalleviate protein deficiency within the county.
It’s worth noting thatproteindeficiency remains a major problem in the
county and JAT and UMN focus oneliminating this so as kids can grow healthy
and strong and fullyparticipatein development of the county.
